The results ind icated that cerium prop ionate crystal con tained 5 waterm olecules, them olecular formu la for cerium prop ionate crystal was Ce( CH CH COO ) ! 5H O. The therm al decom position process for cerium propionate crystal was 4 steps, 4 3 2 3 2 w ater molecu lesw ere lost at 40~ 5∀ , then anotherw aterm olecule w as lost at 100 ~ 115∀ , one of propionates w as lost at 120~ 230∀ and the cerium ( # ) was ox idized to ceric (∃ ) smi ultaneity, and the rem aining 2 prop ionatesw ere lost at 340~ 3 0∀ .
