Methods In vivo radi ofrequency ab- l ati on ( RFA) was processed on 5 nor mal s wi ne wit h the 3rd gear of electrode size . The ablati on te mperat ure was 100 ℃ whil e t he treat ment ti me was 20 mi nutes . RFA wit h sali ne i nj ecti on was perf or med i n 6 l esions and without i n 5 , resulti ng i n 11 l esions as a whole . RFA lesi ons were exa mi ned by tri pl e- phase contrast-enhanced CT i mmediately after t he procedure and several weeks l ater on , respectively , and all s wi ne were sacrifi ced fi nally f or pathol ogi cal eval uation . Results The mean di a meter of RFA l esi ons obtai ned wit h temperature of 100 ℃and 3rd gear of el ectrodes size was 3 .16 c m, whil e t hat with sali ne i nj ecti on was 4 .08 c m on post- procedural tri ple- phase CT scan . Preoperative i nj ection of sali ne coul d si gnificant- ly i ncrease RFA l esi on size co mpared with t hat of non-i nj ecti on group ( P 0 .05) , whet her on post- procedural CT scan or foll o w- up .
