Gaussian optical properties and all the thirdorder canonical aberrations of the magnetic deflection systems ,includ ing canonical position and momentum aberrations at any given observation plane ,can be derived with the new the ory. The calculated results agree well with that obtained using the conventional successive approximation of the aberration.
