It‟s a long story, about 300,000 words in all. In 2014, it was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. The translator puts the first four sections of Chapter One into Chinese. It mainly tells us what the main character Theo and his mother saw and heard on their way to school. The novel is characterized by its length, intriguing plot, delicate personage portray and beauty of language. At the same time, it ‟s difficult to translate it into Chinese. The overall translation process is guided by the typology of Reiss and translation criterion of “faithfulness, expressiveness, elegance” raised by Yan Fu. The novel belongs to expressive type. The language function is to express sender ‟s attitude. The language dimension is aesthetic. The text focus is form-focused. The aim of the target text is to transmit aesthetic form. The translation method is to identify the author.
