Shakespeare was born and brought up in Stratford-upon-Avon At age of 14, he dropped out of school because of his father’s in debt. At the age of 18, he married Anne Hathaway, with whom he had three children: Susanna, and twins Hamnet and Judith. William Shakespeare’s Home William Shakespeare’s Town Between 1585 and 1592, he began a successful career in London as an actor, writer, and part-owner of a playing company called the Lord Chamberlains Men, later known as the Kings Men. He appears to have retired to Stratford around 1613 at age 49, where he died three years later. First period In this period, he wrote historical play Richard III and the three parts of Henry VI. Four comedies play:The Comedy of Errors(错误的喜剧), The two gentlemen of Verona(维罗纳二绅士), The Taming of the Shrew(驯悍记), Love’s Labors Lost. Great success in tragedy Romeo and Juliet Second and Third This period is his mature period in comedies and historical. Six comedies,(《威尼斯商人》The Merchant of Venice 《仲夏夜之梦》A Midsummer Nights Dream 《皆大欢喜》As You Like It 《第十二夜》Twelfth night) a Roman tragedy. Begin to think write Sonnet. It is a period of great tragedies and dark comedies. Five tragedies (Hamlet, Othello, King Lear) and 2 Roman tragedies.
