Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 – 1827) was a German composer, who is generally regarded as one of the greatest composers in the history of music, and was the predominant figure in the transitional period between the Classical and Romantic eras in Western classical music. His reputation and genius have inspired — and in many cases intimidated — ensuing generations of composers, musicians, and audiences. While primarily known today as a composer, he was also a celebrated virtuoso艺术大家 pianist and conductor, and an accomplished violinist. Birth and family Beethoven was born in a music family in Bonn. His father Johann van Beethoven, who worked as a tenor男高音歌唱家 in the same musical establishment and would give lessons on?piano and?violin?to make some money. So, Beethoven displayed his musical talents at an early age and was taught by his father?Johann van Beethoven and Christian Gottlob Neefe.
