Abstract In the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, the teaching about Chinese measure words has been always regarded as one of the emphases, especially the frequently-used individual Noun-measure Words. Besides, teaching and learning methods will be totally different if the teaching object and teaching period become different, not to mention the textbooks. This paper analyzes errors of Individual Noun-measure words in European and American students. Three types of errors are included: Omission, Surplus, Misuse. This paper also analyzes the reasons of errors including textbooks, syllabus, teaching methods and learning methods. The aim of this paper is to achieve some solutions about textbooks, syllabus, teaching methods and learning methods through the analysis. The paper is divided into five chapters: The first chapter: the introduction, it mainly describes the research background, the theoretical basis and the main content, significance, value of this paper. The second chapter: the teaching demands of primary acquisition of individual Noun-measure words and analysis of the tests, it mainly analyzes the individual Noun-measure words which show in the syllabus and textbooks, also their common degree and matching degree. It also analyzes the test and the results of the test. The third chapter: error analysis on European and American students primary acquisition of individual Noun-measure Words, it specifically describes three types of errors which are from the tests, HSK dynamic corpus and daily note, then analyzes the reasons of errors.
