M. Bogomolnyi UDC 534.1 A method and the results of a calculation of the temperature of piezoelectric transducers under harmonic excitation are described. The energy dissipation in them depends on the dielectric, magnetic, and coupled electromechanical (piezoelectric) losses, wtuch are determined experimentally. Thefrequency band in which a minimum of the heating temperature occursfor identical oscillation amplitudes is determined by numerical calculations. The heating of piezoelectric transducers due to energy dissipation leads to nonlinear electromechanical coupling, resonance-frequency drift and a reduction in selectivity; it limits the power of the transducer and in some cases causes repolarization of the piezoelectric ceramic. Heat generation in piezoelectric transducers is due to three main forms of losses: dielectric, mechanical, and coupled electromechanical (piezoelectric). In this paper we show that it is possible to choose the frequency band over which, for the same oscillation amplitude (the fundamental functional characteristic of the transducer), minimum heating temperature of the transducer is obtained; it contains information on methods of calculating the heating temperature of the transducer, methods of determining the losses, and also their experimental dependence on time, frequency, and the electric field taking
