中国管理资讯网--知识库--项目管理新工具设计结构矩阵(China Management Information Network -- knowledge base -- a new tool for project management design structure matrix) China Management Information Network - knowledge base -- new tool for project management: design structure matrix, your current position: China management information network, case library, project management New tools for project management: design, structure, matrix Author: Anonymous: from Chinese project management network update: 2006-3-2 popularity: 259 Traditional project management tools, such as the PERT diagram and Gantt chart, are designed to help project managers arrange the sequence of tasks reasonably when managing large construction projects. The features of these tasks are sequential and independent. However, in the process of innovation (such as product development), the application of these tools is very inconvenient, because they can not clearly describe the flow of information between front and rear tasks. The questions that traditional tools answer are: what other tasks must I accomplish before I begin this task? While product development planning, especially the planning staff of high-tech enterprises, is a tool to answer such a question: before I finish this task, I need to get what information from other tasks? The author introduces a project management tool called the design structure matrix (DSM). Unlike traditional tools, this tool focuses on the information flow of the project rather than on the workflow. The first step in drawing DSM is to list all the tasks in the current order of execution, which are arranged in the same order in the horizontal and vertical directions, forming a matrix of rows and columns. Then each of the lines corresponding to each task is marked with other tasks that provide the necessary information for it. (see illustration) This DSM can clearly show what information exchange will be involved in the design iteration (this article refers to the iterative according to the pr
