Understanding these status codes can significantly increase the ability of a servlet, so you should at least skim through this section to learn about your configuration. When you need some ability, you can go back to this section and read the details. Appendix A (quick index of sevlets and JSP) provides summary information of these status codes in the form of tables. The full HTTP 1.1 specification comes from RFC 2616 and you can check it at / online. The status codes of HTTP 1.1 are marked as new because many browsers only support HTTP 1.0.
