Unit 9 How was your weekend? (Section B 3a-3b) Lizhuang Middle School Li Ling Teaching aims: 1.Knowledge aims: 1) new words : spend, yesterday, No., middle , most, talk , song, had (have),saw (see), wrote (write), read(read),spent(spend) 2)phrases: middle school, go shopping, talk show 3)passage comprehension 2.Ability aims: Describe past events, at the same time, practice listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translating. 3.Emotional aim: 1) Make the students communicate with others actively and politely . 2)Learn to concern friends and family members. 3)Choose meaningful things to spend the weekends. Teaching procedures Step 1 Greet. Step 2 Review.(pair work) Watch and say. Teacher: show pictures on the screen. Students: work in pairs and practice target language of this unit. A: what did she do last weekend? B: On Saturday morning, she went to the supermarket. A: How was her weekend? B: Great! Step 3 3a Scan the article.(individual work) Students: read the passage quickly and underline all the past tense verbs. Teacher: walk around the classroom, help students if they need. Give them about one minute, ask the ones who have finished to stand up and read the answers. Others can add after listening as soon as possible. All the students who answered can get scores for the group. Step 4 Listen and write.(individual and group work) Students: listen to the tapes and write down the verbs they listened. Then discuss in groups and complete . The group members can help the poor ones. Teacher: play the tape twice . The first time, students just listen. The second time, teacher pauses the tape when there’s a verb. (Which group can have the most verbs the most quickly will be the winner.) Step 5 Describe the graph with the target language.(individual work) eg. Ten kids did their homework or studied. … (This part combines the language structure with the language function.
