Especially with the publication of the international standard ISODIS2394: General principles on reliability for structures and EURO ODE becoming the normal codefor Euro pean counties, the applications of structural reliability theory have entered a new era. Based on a rather detailed review of re lated documents, this paper outlires the applications and developments of structural reliability theory abroad, with emphasis on the aspects of international organizations dealing with structural reliability, structural reliability theory implementations in de sign codes, research in other areas as well as training and education.
