Lesson Five: Entropy Entropy: a measure of the sameness between the temperature of something which heats and of something which is being heated 熵 e.g. Entropy increases as the heat becomes the same all through a system. 2. Leak: to let ( a liquid, gas,etc) in or out of a hole or crack（使）漏,（使）渗，泄漏（消息） e.g. The tank is leaking ( petrol). Oil was leaking out of a hole in the tank. Someone in the ministry had leaked the story to the press. Leak out: ( of news,facts) to become known 泄漏，透漏 e.g. It had leaked out that they intended to increase the arms budget. 7. Show up: arrive as expected or arranged (按预期或安排）到达 e.g. Did everyone you invited show up? 8. Wear out: ①to cause to be reduced to nothing or to a useless state by long use 使耗尽，用坏，穿破 e.g. These thin shoes will wear out quickly. ②to tire greatly,to exhaust 使疲倦，使精疲力竭 These children are wearing me out. 9. Futile: ( of an action) having no effect, unsuccessful; useless 徒劳的，无益的，无效的 Futility: 徒劳，无益 e.g. All my attempt to unlock the door were futile, because I was using the wrong key. Don’t waste time by asking futile questions. 10. After all: in spite of everything 毕竟，终究 e.g. So you see I was right after all. 11. Laundromat: a shop where the public can wash their clothes in machines that work when coins are put in them 自助洗衣店 Laundry 洗衣房（店) , 要洗的衣物 e.g. There’s a lot of laundry in the basket.
