We hypothesized that VLBW is associated with reduced bone mineral density (BMD) in adulthood. Methods and Findings: The Helsinki Study of Very Low Birth Weight Adults is a multidisciplinary cohort study representative of all VLBW births within the larger Helsinki area from 1978 to 1985.
