Based o the phe ology model of CERES-rice a d it erative method, the automat ic parameter adjustme t method w as developed a d t he combi ed with the field experime t, the suitable st eps for phe ology parameters a d the adjustme t differe ce betwee stage by stage a d w hole w ere discussed. The results show ed that the suitable steps for accumulated GDD, photose sitive factor a d crit ical dayle gth were 1, 01 01 a d 01 2 respectively . The suitable parameter adjusted i stages w as differe t w ith those adjusted i w hole, because the observed headi g data w as replaced by the simulated values. Although the RM SE for the suitable parameter adjusted i st ages w as greater tha t hat i w hole, the parameter adjusted i stages embodied the phase developme t characteristics of crop varieties.
