About the Authors JC De Vera Greenlining Communications Coordinator JC De Vera is a Bay Area native from San Jose, California. He graduated magna cum laude from UCLA in 2011 with a dual B.A. degree in Sociology and Asian American Studies, and a concentration in Pilipino Studies. At UCLA, he developed his passion for community empowerment and solidified his life’s mission: ridding the world of hate and inequality. As a student activist, organizer, and elected student government official, JC advocated tirelessly for college afford- ability, the expansion of ethnic studies, and increased access and retention for students of color in higher education.
