I know youre anxious to know what my life here is like. I enclosed a few photos in the letter that will help you to imagine what I was talking about. You asked me about my high school. Its a Jungle School - the classrooms are built of bamboo, and the roofs are thatched with thatch. I only have a few minutes walk to school. There is no electricity, no water, not even textbooks. Im still trying to adapt myself to the conditions here. But one thing is for sure, Im more imaginative in teaching. Science is the most challenging class for me, because there is no equipment. If I need water, I have to carry it from my home with a bucket! One day, I was doing a chemical experiment to the childrens presentation, before I knew it, the mixture was bubbling over everywhere! The children had never seen the situation before, and jumped out of the window with fright. Sometimes I wonder what chemistry is really good for these kids. Most of them will return to their villages after their grade eight. To tell the truth, I really dont know if my classes have changed the lives of these children.
