Influence of Confucianism on Contemporary Chinese Society 【摘要】儒家思想是中国影响最大的流派，也是中国古代的主流意识。自春秋末期孔子创立以来，儒家文化理念已深入人心，成为指导人们崇尚和平、追求自强、实现自我和社会和谐的重要思想。本文旨在分析儒家思想的主要原则以及对当代中国社会政治、经济、文化以及人们思想的影响。 【关键词】儒家思想；主要原则；现代影响 【Abstract】 Confucianism was not only the most influential school but also the dominant ideology in China. Since it was founded by Confucius at the end of Spring and Autumn period, the ideology of Confucianism has been deeply rooted into people’s heart, and became the important idea which guiding them to advocate peace, to pursue independence and to achieve self-realization. This article is mainly to analyze the principle of Confucianism and its influence on contemporary Chinese social politics, economy, culture and peoples thinking. 【Kew Words】 Confucianism; Principle; Modern Influence Chapter One Introduction The core of Confucianism is kindheartedness, and its characteristic is emphasizing spirit instead of substance; moral instead of skills; theory instead of practice. It focus on the general orientation, and pay attention to the substantial and enrichment of the mental life, and concerned about the cultivation of healthy personality and the foundation of correct life outlook , namely to establish and teach people become a gentleman. Confucianism is a strong inclusive culture, it is the reason why the people who pursuit of progress turn to pay attention to the Confucian culture, and why people enthusiastically explore the hundreds of years of Confucian culture again. Chapter Two The Essence of Confucianism Confucianism is the mainstream thought in Chinese traditional culture. The main goal is self-discipline and self-improvement.
