對等連接詞(Co-ordinate Conjunctions) ＊對等連接詞的作用是連接文法作用相同的單字、片語或子句。也可連接單字或片語、片語或子句、或單字或子句，但文法作用必須相同。如： Can we have dinner now or when Father comes back? 連接單字和子句，但皆作副詞 ＊對等連接詞連接兩個子句時，前面通常加上逗點。 ＊依照功用可分為： 累進型：and , both…and… , not only…but also… , as well as , neither…nor… 反義型：but , 選擇型：or , either…or… , 推理型：so , 解釋型：for , and ＊作「和；且；而」解釋 Tom and Mary are studying English now. Learning English is interesting and useful. He went across the river and into the forest. My father is an engineer, and my mother is a teacher. ＊and連接兩句子時，後面的句子通常出現含有too/either的簡答句， 或so/neither的倒裝句 Tom is a student, and I am, too. = …., and so am I. Tom is not a student, and I am not, either. = …., and neither am I. He walks to school, and I do, too. = …., and so do I. He doesn’t like math, and I don’t, either. = …., and neither am I. ＊三個以上的連接 A, B, and C Sam likes tennis, golf, and baseball. Who he was, why he married her, what their problems were, and how it all ended happily, are told in the last chapter of the story book. ＊連接人稱代名詞，有規定的排列順序 單數231 (you-he-I) ； 複數123(we-you-they) Tom and I are good friends. You and Helen should go there on time. ＊祈使句, and + 主+ will / can …. 「那麼」 Get up early, and you can catch the bus. (早點起床，那麼你就可以趕上公車了。) Go along this street two blocks, and you can see the department store. ＊連接相同的字，表示”漸漸；重複”或加強語氣 Tom is a busy student. He just studies, studies, and studies. In summer, the days become longer and longer. ＊Go / Come and ….= Go / Come to … 表”目的”的不定詞 (and 或 to 通常省略) Come and see me. = Come to see me. = Come see me. May I go and play now? = May I go to play now? ＊and連接兩物品而被視為一物，或同一人有兩種身分時，第二個名詞不加冠詞，做主詞時用單數動詞 Spaghetti and meat sauce is my favorite. (拌肉醬義大利麵) The poet and novelist is dead. (那位詩人兼小說家) both…and… ＊「既…又…；兩者都…」有強調兩者的語氣 He has both the time and the money to travel around the world. Exercise is good both for body and for mind. The weather is both cold and wet. ＊both與NOT 同時出現，有部分否定的意思 「並非兩個都…」
