Tempora-l spatial Change of Concentration of Chlorophyl-l a in the East China Sea

Abstract: The tempora-l spatial changes of chlorophyl-l a concentration 1Q(ch-l a) 2obtained by SeaWiFS in the East China Sea (ECS) during
1997-2007 were analyzed. The results showed that the annual average Q( chl-a) in the inshore areawasmuch higher than that in the offshore;
the average sharply decreased from inshore to offshore; and the highest Q( ch-l a) was located in the estuary of the angtze River. Inthe ECS,
Q(chl-a) showed a significant annual cycle, reaching the highest in March and April and the lowest in July and August every year. In the

recent 11years, Q(chl-a) and annual anomalies decreased in the ECS, especially in the inshore. Q(ch-l a) was the highest ( 210 mgPm )
