嵌入式3d绘图风行 但2d技术仍不可忽视(Embedded 3D graphics are popular, but 2D technology can not be ignored) The perfect 3D graphics feature has begun to appear on embedded devices such as mobile phones and tablets. But applications that use only 2D graphics or use both 2D and 3D capabilities still require 2D drawing. For example, POS terminals, industrial equipment, and low - grade vehicle graphics applications require only 2D graphics. On the other hand, higher order vehicle navigation systems may require 2D or 3D graphics to implement graphical user interfaces. This distinction makes sense because the 3D drawing engine may need to focus on real drawing intensive operations. Because of the importance of 2D graphics in todays embedded applications, this article will discuss two common 2D mapping schemes in embedded applications: raster and vector graphics. Then, this article will compare the two technologies and propose a customized solution. We will discuss this topic only from the point of view of embedded applications (including automotive applications). We assume that readers are familiar with embedded systems and terminology used in embedded systems such as Flash, ROM, CPU, RAM, and VRAM. Our discussion is based on typical system configurations, such as the two configurations shown in figure 1. Raster graphics engine Raster drawing jobs rely on pre rendered images or bitmap. If it is a multi chip application, the bitmap is usually stored in the external CPU Flash ROM. In true single chip solutions, they are stored in a dedicated external Flash chip that can be connected to a graphics chip via a tandem or parallel bus. The raster engine uses module transfer (Block, Transfer, BLT) jobs to transfer the bit map to the drawing engine, where the BLT operation is similar to the copy job. The design and implementation of a raster engine is simpler and cheaper than a vector graphics engine. There are two common architectures for raster graphics engines, as shown in figure 2. One uses
