She pounded down the road. retreat: The army retreated quickly. sermon: The minister preached a long sermon. wry: She made a wry face. dubious: ( 语气较弱,带有猜疑,半信半疑的含义)She knows he really wants to help her, however she was dubious about his ability to help. doubtful: ( 语气较强,明显表示一种怀疑态度.) Paraphrase Granddad’s Irish heritage came out in his love for language; during the week he used “everyday talk”, but on Sunday he spoke the finest English.
