Preparation of chitosan and its procedures optimization

Abstract: The chitosan was prepared by the acidification and de- acetyl reactionwith the raw materials,
e. . , the shrimp and the crab. The satisfactory chitin could be prepared under such conditions as 4%
of the hydrochloric acid, 80 of the reaction temperature and 8h of the reaction time. Moreover, the
resultant chitosan was prepared by treatin the above chitin with 50% of the aqueous sodium hydroxide
for 4 h at 90 . Under the above optimum conditions, the de- acetyl rate of the resultant chitosan could
reach 90. 05%.
