With increasingly produced and employed plastics especially polyvinyl chloride (PVC), PAEs spread constantly into environment and become a global pollutant. Many PAEs exhibit reproductive toxicity, and they were regarded to environmental hormones. Therefore, PAEs have been classified as restricted materials in many countries where regulations and standards have also been enacted to restrict their application and contents in products. While hazards of PAEs are introduced, dangers in productive and practical processes, test methods and the research development of related substitution are also discussed.
