China – US relation: Dangling between friends and rivals Today, with a glooming economy and rising status among all countries, China, the biggest developing economy and largest population owner, is facing more challenges ever before. US, the largest import nation and perhaps most prosperous country. The relation between the big two is of great significance to the whole globe. In 1972, the announcement of China-US joint communiqué proclaimed the official threshold of diplomatic normalization. The long-lasting hostile status began to melt. Thirty years later, the tie between the two nations becomes increasingly intricate. On one hand, the concrete benefit generate from the two countries’ complementary economy has brought them ever dependent on each other than any period of time before. On the other hand, the difference of politic status, nation’s developing orientation and ideology of civilization creates constant conflicts and arguments that intervenes the bond from becoming tighter. When consider in the overall situation, China and US acts like friends and rivals. Their mutual attitude is influenced by interest and ideology. The relationship develops in a meander way as time goes by. Economic affair is the biggest issue among countries. With the help of open and reform policy, based on natural advantages of mineral and cheap human workforce, China sucks in huge amount of funds in developing its internal economy while exports numerous kinds of cargos to the whole globe. Both the US and China benefit a lot after mutual complementary economic relation formed. But that does not mean the whole. Conflict and tension arises when trade surplus occurs, also with several interest groups’ malevolent attitudes towards a more prosperous China.
