Ladies and gentleman, it is my honour to stand here to give my presntantion. my opoint is that China should not raise the retirement age. Yesterday I fond a piece of news in BBC website ,the title is扲etirement do harmful to health. The context of that news is that a study, published by the Institution of Economic Affairs,we also call it (IEA), found that retirement results in a drastic decline in health in the medium and long term. The IEA said the study suggests people should work longer for health as well as economic reasons. The government already plans to raise the state pension age. The study, which was published in conjunction with the Age Endeavour Fellowship, a charity, compared retired people with those who had continued working past retirement age, and took into account possible confounding factors. Philip Booth, program director at the IEA, said the government should go further to deregulate labor markets and allow people to work for longer. He thinks that Working longer will not only be an economic necessity, it also helps people live healthier lives. This new made me think another case that happened in China,last year. On June 6th,2012, a major portal website in China asked the public do you think the age of retirement should be raised? The results were frankly, very one-sided. Over 2.3 million people have taken part in the poll since then. Among them, over 2.2 million responded negatively to the idea. That accounts for almost 95 percent. The main reason given was that it affects the employment and life of the younger generation. Only 2 percent said yes to the proposal. Another 1.7 percent was neutral. The age structure of the respondents is unknown. Just as the BBC抯 news mentioned that retirement results in a drastic decline in health in the medium and long term.
