Through interviews ， the teachers un- derstanding of students independent thinking training is investigated. By questionnaires ， the stu- dents perceptions of university teachers quality are collected. These data are used to explore the key factor in the cultivation of independent thinking ability of students ， and answer the question of how important the university teachers affect independent thinking ability
