T he pathogen biological study of the porcine circovirus type 2 ( PCV2) indicated that PCV2 could infect different cells in different ages of pig, and it could regulate t he cytokine secretion in monocytes and macrophages also. PCV2 had tw o genotypes w hich could be distinguished by t he specific nucleotides sequence in the ORF2 frame. T he specific nucleotides in PCV2b were 1486TcAaacCCCGG, and A cC aacA AA A T in PCV2a genotype. There w as no high identity between domestic and abroad isolates by sequence analysis w hich suggested that the PCV2 had existed for a long time in our country and probably it had mutated in some nucleotides. In the pathogenic study, the PCV2 could cause multisystemic w ast ing syndrome, sow reproduct ive failure and porcine respiratory disease complex by coinfection w ith other pathogens.
