B eij ing G eneral R esearch Institu te of M in ing and M etallurgy ) Abstrac t Test researc is m ade on t e effect of several comm on ly used collectors for leadzinc collectors and t e grinding environm en t on t e flotation of a com plex leadz inc ore from N am ibia. It is found from t e test t at t e effect of col lectors is closely related to t e grind ing environm ent. In a conventional low carbon steel grind ing environm ent, galenite is coated by iron oxides produced due to t e strong reductive atm osp ere and t e corros ion, w ic can seriously retard its flo tation. Under suc environm ent, collectors suc as Aerop ine 3418A, Aero 242, etc t at ave strong collecting capacity are needed, w ic owever generally ave low selectivity. On t e contrary, w en ground in an oxid ization grinding environm ent in t e ceram icm il,l t e galenite can keep a good floatab ility and t erefore, collector t at as low er collecting capacity but strong selectivity can be used, suc as am inodit iop osp ate.
