State Key Laboratory of Hydraulic Engineering Simulation and Safety, Tianjin University, Tianjin 300072, China) Abstract: Pendulous Installation Method adopted for the installation of deepwater manifold in Liwan 3-1 field of the South China Sea was simulated using a nonlinear time-domain coupled analysis tech鄄 ’ nique. For the simulation of the manifold s installation, an integrated model based on three-dimen鄄 ’ sional potential flow theory and stretched rod theory was established, meanwhile a Morison s mod鄄 ’ el was proposed for the sling (or cable) and manifold s components. Through the check of the con鄄 vergence precision and the proper selection of design parameters, the numerical simulation was ac鄄 complished for both the processes of the manifold entering into water and underwater pendulous motion.
