All these diversified aspects have promoted the development of erhus expressive power. The subject of this thesis is discussed in three chapters: in the first chapter the discussion of the expansion of expressive diversity is based on the composition of erhu works from the 1950s to the end of the 1970s. The diversified composition is subdivided into different historical phases to spell out each stage of erhu works. The expansion of expressive power is represented in four aspects: creative material, genre of composition, performing skills, and music language development.
