Read the advertisement and the letter. Whenever you write application letters, remember to check the following: 1. Have you stated clearly what job you are applying for? 2. Have you stated what your educational qualifications are and where they were obtained? 3. Are you selling yourself by linking your qualifications, experience and qualities with those required for the position? 4. Have you stated your contact details and availability for interview? Tone in job application letters Achieving an appropriately polite and non-boastful tone is essential for making the right impression on a prospective employer. Style in job application letters A job application letter is a formal piece of writing and your choice of words will need to reflect this. Accuracy in job application letters Accuracy is vital in creating the best possible impression on an employer. Avoid errors of grammar, punctuation or spelling in the letter. Revise and improve the following sentences: 1.There probably are’t very many people in Hong Kong better qualified for the job than me! 2.Well, of course, my vast experience of working in all the best companies in Hong Kong makes me the ideal candidate for the job. 3.
