Before the class sing a song: YOU and ME
Listen to the music (动物世界开篇曲)and tell me what can you think of .(The answer should be animals)
T:I love animals very much. Do you love animals?
S: Yes , I do.
The teacher shows the topic of this unit. Then divide the class into two parts. And build two zoos for them .one for team A and one for team B. Declare the rules of competition: if you can answer my questions correctly you can take one animal you like to your zoo . if you are not good enough the animal in your zoo will come out .At the end , see which team has more animals which team will be the winner.
Show the pictures of the animals and present the chant .
Look at the cat . It is fat .
Look at the pig. It is big.
Look at the dog. It’s in the log.
Look at the duck . It’s in the truck.
Look at the bear. It’s on the bear.
Chant together and point out :Cat rhymes with fat .Pig rhymes with big. Dog rhymes with log. Duck rhymes with truck. Bear rhymes with pear.
Magic game .
Show three cards and let the children read the letters on them c-a-t. Let the children say magic , magic , goal .goal ,goal. Show the three cards and read them again c-a-r. in the same way we got a new word e-a-t.
Group work :
T: Can you do the magic thing? Four people in one group and find out more words .
New words we get after group work: hat, mat, bat ,fat , eat, cut, car, cap.
It ‘s a funny way to put the familiar words together and easier for us to remember more words .
Sing a song about animals
Listen carefully and catch the words about animals when you listen to the song .

7. Draw animals
The teacher draw animals with fingerprint and let the children guess what I am going to draw .
T: I want to make my own picture book .
I give them a demonstration : Look at the mice . They are eating rice.
