FIGURES OF SOUND Alliteration (头韵) Assonance（半谐音） Consonance (辅韵) Onomatopoeia(拟声) 头韵(Alliteration) Alliteration refers to repetition of initial consonants in series of words and/or phrases. Or it is the employment in close connection of two or more words beginning with same letter. Since the letter repeated is usually the initial consonant, alliteration is also called ‘head rhyme’ or ‘front rhyme.’ For example: The lips of leaves, and the ripple of rain.
