Abstract For a long time, Sino-Syria energy cooperation has left a blank record until March 2003 when China National Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Corporation (CNODC) won the water injection for Gbeibe oil field which made a great breakthrough in this domain. As it joins hands with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) to acquire 38% shares of Al-Furat Oil Company, the water injection helped the oil-related-industrial projects win their bids successively. While the future energy cooperation of the two parties must be provided with boundless opportunities as they had a long historical link, a strong political basis while the economic and trade relationship develops rapidly and the exploration of Syria’s natural gas sees a broad outlook. On the other hand, the future cooperation also suffers from the decrease of Syria’s oil output and export as well as the deterioration of Syria-U.S relationship.
