Unit 10 Changing Power of the E-revolution Situational Practice Build up a dialogue with your partner based on the following situation. You represent a local native produce import export corporation. You are selling Longjing tea to a wholesaler from Australia. Now he has ordered a total of US $50,000 worth of your Longjing tea. He keeps asking questions, making sure the tea is absolutely damp-proof and suitably packed. You explain to him the kind of materials you use when packing the tea and the size and type of the boxes you use. Task 1 Brainstorming Work in groups of 4−5. All the group members brainstorm different e-things they can think of and make a list of them. Take notes on a sheet of paper. Talk about your experience of applying the e-things, for example, What kind of e-things do you use in your life or work? How often do you use them? What do you use them for? What roles do these e-things play in your life?(How have the e-things made a difference in your life or that of others you know?) What are the advantages and disadvantages of various modern means of communication (e.g. mobile phone, e-mail, etc.)? Provide as much information as possible in the description. The group leader must ensure everybody has a say and the discussion goes on smoothly. Summarize the results and be ready to share your ideas. Make a list of the e-things and familiarize yourself with the different terms of electronic devices. Task 2 A Survey Work in groups of 4−5. Interview your group members on the issue of “high-tech etiquette rules” and collect as much information as possible and find out their opinions. Think about the following questions and exchange ideas with your group members. Support your points with examples. What are people’s overall attitudes towards using high-tech equipment, such as email, cell phone? Are they essential in people’s life? Do people have any complaints about using them?
