China 650224 Abstract With the development of network technology, the position of e-government becomes more and more important in the informatization process. It becomes one of the most important methods to converse government functions and improve work efficiency. Yunnan province is a region whose level of development?? of e-government is relatively low. Developing e-government can improve government work efficiency and accelerate the economic development of the whole province effectively. The article analyzes the necessities and possibilities to develop e-government in Yunnan province, and points out the targets and guarantee measures. Key words Government function, E -government, Informatization 1 Introduction As the rapid development of information technology in 1990s, especially the general application of the Internet, the development of e-government becomes one of the most important methods of the contemporary informationlization. It was almost included in the political process by all the industrialized countries. E-government is the governments administration with computer technology, especially the network technology. Targeted at improving government work efficiency and improving the environments of making decisions and investing, it constructs and improves the governments inner management system, policy-making supporting system and official automotive system combined with the reengineering of the process of government management, and provides great technological and consulting supports for the improvement of government information management and service level. Developing e-government has great significance on developing our countrys economy and society, especially on the government reformation and the converse of government functions.
