Lesson 4 Christmas Hello, everyone! I am Chennan from English Department. Today I am very glad to be here to share my teaching ideas with you. Part 1 Analysis of the teaching material（教材分析） My text is Lesson 4 in Senior High English Book 1, which is pressed by Beijing Normal University. There are three units in this book, and this lesson is in the last unit, which consists of festival, party, wedding, and Christmas. Today, let’s come to Christmas. Part 2 Status and Function（地位与作用） Because of the importance of English, more and more people like to know more about foreign customs and cultures, among them are some important festivals. As English learners, it is very important for us to get familiar with such cultural knowledge. Also, it is very helpful and beneficial to develop Ss’ interests of learning English. Part 3 Teaching objectives (教学目标) As for teaching objectives, there are three ones. (The first one is… the second one is…and the third one is…) Knowledge objective（知识目标）: To read a narrative text and understand the story. To build up an area of vocabulary associated with Christmas. Ability objective（能力目标）: To develop reading strategies to answer multiple-choice questions Moral objective（情感目标）: To talk about childhood memories Part 4 Teaching important points（教学重点） Discuss to help the students to broaden their views of knowledge. Part 5 Teaching difficult points（教学难点） Compare the culture and understand the Chinese traditional festivals. Part 6 Teaching aids and methods(教具和教法) Teaching aids (A multimedia and a blackboard) Both traditional and modern teaching facilities have been used in my class. It’s known to us that the multimedia is very effective in language teaching and courseware can offer us a visual representation of information. A blackboard can be easily available.
