Teaching Material Analysis This is the 2nd module in Book 1, and the topic is “my new teachers”. It consists of three paragraphs, and each paragraph talks about one teacher. * In paragraph 1, it describes an English teacher, Mrs. Li. In paragraph 2, students will learn about a physics teacher, Mrs. Chen. In paragraph 3, the major figure is Mr. Wu, a Chinese teacher. This module is quite close to students’ daily life. Through studying this module, students are able to use the words, phrases and sentences when they want to introduce or write a person in English. * II. Teaching Objectives Language Objectives (1) In this class, I’ll teach my students these important words and phrases: avoid, patient, first impression, make progress. These words and phrases are quit frequently used in their daily life. They are useful. * (2) I’ll teach my students two important sentences: She avoids making you feel stupid! This is a verb-ing pattern. I feel I’m going to make progress with her. There is an important phrase: make progress. * 2. Ability Objectives Enable students to consolidate the V-ing pattern. Help students to remember some verbs followed by V–ing, such as avoid, like, hate. (2)Through studying the text, I will try to improve the reading ability of the students, and help them use these new words and phrases in their daily life. * 3.
