The victim’s parents have offered a reward of 50,000 yuan for any information that leads to the arrest of the murderer. III. Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty Read the passage in different ways. Read the context paragraph by paragraph and do some further thinking. IV. Teaching procedures Step 1 Pre-reading Read the title What information can you get from the title? T: Today we are going to learn the reading part of this unit. The title of the text is 25- year-old computer engineer murdered. What information can you get from the title? What other information do you want to get from the text after reading the title? T: Think over: What else do you want to know from the text after you read the title? I’ll give you one minute to think about it. Why was such a young man murdered? T: From the title, we’ve learnt the victim was only 25 years old. He was so young! Why was such a young man murdered? Do you feel surprised? Discuss in groups and tell me your idea. (While talking, the teacher can introduce some new words like enemy; suspect etc.) Step 2 While-reading Fast reading T: Please read the article as quickly as possible, and after reading try to answer these two questions: What does the write want to tell the readers through the article?
