Unlocking the Potential The power of networks- Together we can! Why Establish a Learning Network? Networks foster innovation The freedom to be different Networks are a test bed for new ideas Support the risk taker Networks provide challenge and discipline to teachers’ learning Focused CPD on shared priorities What makes an effective network? (1) Consistency of values and focus A shared sense of purpose linked to key values Children’s learning at the heart of it and adult learning to support it Clarity of structure Everyone in the network needs to be working to the same end and understand their place in the bigger picture What makes an effective network? (2) Knowledge creation, utilisation and transfer What we learn- we use- we share It should be rewarding What’s in it for all of us? Creating new leaders of learning through out the network Dispersed leadership- empowering teachers Resourced So effective networks… Keep a focus on pupil learning Enhance the skills of teachers Become a focal point for sharing good practice Build capacity to improve schools Integrate pressure and support Link between the local, regional and national Creating collaborative success Relationships “People work well together who break bread together… Successful and full partnerships manage the relationships” Organisational chemistry Creating the “buzz” about learning and teaching from working in new partnerships across different schools Creating collaborative success Unity of Purpose A shared belief that we can achieve more for children by working together A compelling idea that enthuses and enlivens everyone in the network- lighting the candle Professional relationships that endure beyond the resourced time of the network Networks that become something of real worth in their own right What do network leaders need?-and therefore all networks A plan Cunning or otherwise it must be understood by all The ritual agreement To initiate the network there needs to be an event that allows everyone
