Contact Information Don Rose Director, NC BioStart donrose@ Ilona Ori Program Assistant ilona_ori@ 919-843-3304 Upcoming Events Commercialization Webinar “Incorporation and Founder’s Stock” Ken Eheman and Anthony Williams, WRYP March 15th, 12 – 1 pm Emerging Company Showcase April 12th, 6 pm, Kenan-Flagler Business School * EDUCATION We have a number of programs to help educate the faculty as to the process of commercialization. We are working with KFBS to expand the Launch the Venture course to include content relevant to life science companies (product development in a regulated environment, reimbursement, partnering, etc) We have developed a series of commercialization webinars that we are broadcasting across the campus and to the local community (see us afterwards if you would like to be on the distribution list). These cover topics such as IP, incorporation, founders stock, licensing, etc MENTORING The faculty needs mentors to guide them through the commercialization process. The Entrepreneurs-in-Residence are the cornerstone of the program. These mentors have domain expertise in the area of drugs, diagnostics, and devices. They work with the faculty to help them develop their technology for commercialization. They will be speaking in a few minutes about some of their work. We also want to get faculty who have started companies to help mentor those who are going through the process. CONNECTING The university needs to create a better fish bowl; letting the outside look in and help us decide what has commercial potential. To that end, we’ve put together an external advisory board of local VC, attorneys, and entreprenuers to help us evaluate and develop these early-stage opportunities. We are also putting together several networking events. The Emerging Company Showcase will be Tuesday, April 13th at 6 pm. We will showcase a number of university startup companies. In the fall, we will have a forum for early-stage technologies that have potential co
