Introduction (1) Definition  Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an intervention that attempts to give a person with cardiac and/or respiratory arrest artificial circulation and artificial respiration in order to restore some blood supply and oxygenation to the brain and other vital organs until such a time that the heart can be restarted.  CPR and Cerebral resuscitation are called CPCR. 1. Introduction (2) Cardiac arrest 1) Definition Abrupt loss of consciousness caused by lack of adequate cerebral blood flow due to failure of cardiac pump function. 1.
