AbstractBasedonpracticalmeasurementofelectroniccompasswillexisterrorinevitably,thispaper putsforwardtheelectroniccompasserrorcalibrationandcompensationmethodafter analyzing the mechanism of error.Electroniccompasscanbedividedintothreeaxismagneticsensormanufacturingerror、installationerrorandcarriermagneticerrorbasedontheerrorofgeneratingmechanism. However,threeaxismagneticsensormanufacturingerrorincludezerobias、sensitivity mismatchandangleswhicharenotorthogonal,carriermagneticerrorincludehardmagneticinterferenceerrorandsoftmagneticinterferenceerror.Therefore,themathematicalmodelof manufacturingerror、installationerrormathematicalmodelandcarriermagneticerrormodel are established on the analysis of each error’s effecttothemeasureresult of magnetic sensor.Inthispaper,leastsquarefittingmethodbasedonellipseconstrainedisproposedforerror model.Ellipseconstraintconditionsaredeterminedaccordingtothenatureofellipse,and thentransformingtheproblemofsolvingellipticparametersintocalculatingtheextremum underconstraintconditions.Finally,determiningthefittingellipticparameters,generalizing theellipsefittingmethodtothree-dimensionalspaceandproposingleastsquarefitting method based on ellipsoidconstrained.Thispaperintroducesthecalibrationmethodofelectroniccompasserrorparametersindetail whichbasedontheerrormodelandellipsefittingellipsoid,derivestheformulafor calculatingtheerrorparameters,proposesmanufacturingerror,installationerror/angleofdip, carriermagneticfielderrorcompensationmethod.Fortheoriginalthree-dimensionalmagnetic fielddatameasuredbyelectroniccompass,followedbytheorderofmanufacturingerror compensation,installationerror/angleofdipcompensation,carriermagneticfield compensationerrorcompensationinelectroniccompass,andtoeliminatethedeviationwith the values ofthe ideal three-dimensional magnetic field data.Atlast,thispaperdesignstheelectroniccompasserrorcalibrationandcompensation softwarewhichbasedonMATLABanddesignstheappropriatetest,calibrationerrorofparametersofelectroniccompass,t
