Synthesis and propertiesofhyperbranchedstar copolymers anddendriticbrushcopolymers AbstractSynthesis and properties of nonlinear copolymers have attracted much attentionrecently.Owingtobranchedstructuresandmicrophase-separationbehaviors,complex macromoleculararchitecturessuchasdendriticandhyperbranched(co)polymers,star polymersandpolymerbrushesusually exhibituniquephysicochemicalpropertiesand multipurposeapplicationsinbioscienceandmaterialsscience.Thisresearchwasaimedat facilesynthesisandpropertiesofmultiarmandmiktoarmstarpolymerswithabranched coreanddendriticbrushcopolymers.Tothisend,self-condensingvinylpolymerization (SCVP),sequence-regulatedcopolymerization,Menschutkinreactionandreversible addition-fragmentationchaintransfer(RAFT)processwerecombinedtosynthesizethe target starsand dendritic brushcopolymers.Their relationshipsbetweenstructureand propertieswereinvestigated,andthepotentialapplicationswerealsostudied.Themain contents arelistedas follows.Part1aimedatsynthesisandcharacterizationofmultiarmandmiktoarmstarswitha branchedcore.Menschutkinreactionandcontrolledpolymerizationwerecombinedto constructthreetypesofstarpolymerswithabranchedcore.Hyperbranched poly(VBDB-co-DMA)(abbreviatedasPVD)copolymersweresynthesizedbyRAFT SCVPandusedascorereagentstosynthesizemultiarmandmiktoarmstarswith poly(ε-caprolactone)(PCL),polystyrene,poly(methylmethacrylate),poly(tert-butyl- acrylate),andpoly(N-isopropylacrylamide)segments.Effectsofreactiontime,feedratio andarmlengthoncouplingreactionbetweenPVDandbromide-functionalizedpolymer wereinvestigated,andavarietyofAm-typestars (m≈ 7.0-35.1)wereobtained.Meanwhile, AmBnstars(m≈9.0,n≈6.1-11.3)wereachievedbysuccessiveMenschutkinreactions, andAmCostars(m≈8.8-9.0,o≈5.0)weregeneratedbytandemquaternizationandRAFT processes.Molecularweightsofvariousstarsusuallyagreedwellwiththetheoretical values,andtheirpolydispersityindiceswereintherangeof1.06-1.24.Thearmnumber, chainlengthandchemicalcompositionofstarpolymerscouldberoughlyadjustedby control
