The economy of them as well as the local finance had been developing rapidly. So did it have any relationship between FDI inflow and financial development? This paper has done some related research according to the statistical data of Chongqing China from 1997 to 2011. Firstly, this paper reviews briefly the theories of FDI and financial development. At the same time, according to the reality, the paper theoretically tries to explain the relationship between FDI inflow and regional financial development: The inflow of FDI is conducive to the development of finance and financial development promotion. Secondly, this study analyses the current situation of FDI inflow and financial development of Chongqing. FDI inflow scale of Chongqing is sharp rising in recent years, hit one billion-dollar in 2011, but it is far lower than Shanghai and Tianjin. According to foreign investment source, it is accounted for vast majority from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and most investment focus on labor-intensive export processing industry, So Chongqing need to attract high-tech industry and service industry from the developed countries in Europe and America. In recent years, Chongqing finance has developed rapidly and financial system is well improved, the proportion of financial industry added value in GDP is increasing, achieve to 7% in 2011. From FIR, it is obviously lower than Beijing and Shanghai, which shows Chongqing’s financial industry can get further development. Thirdly, according to statistical data from 1997-2011 in Chongqing, this paper studies empirically the relationship between FDI inflow and financial development by using unit root test, Johansen cointegration test and Granger causality tests.
