AbstractWithnationaleconomydevelopingcontinuouslyandthescaleofpowerincreasingrapidly,theelectricdepartmentandusershavebecomeveryconcernedaboutpowerqualityproblems.Inordertoimproveandenhancethepowerquality,thepowersectorneedstomonitorvariousreal-timepowersignalsforanalyzingpowerqualityandtakingcontrolandcompensationmeasureseffectively.Therefore,foreffectivepowerqualityanalysis,theymusttakesomestepsfirst,suchasacquisition,compression,storage,transmission,detectionandidentification.Monitoringandstoragepowerquality’sfailureandinterferencesignalhasbecometheirmaineverydayjob.However,ifpowersignalproblemshappen,itwillcontainaverywiderangeofspectralcomponents.OnthebasisofShannonsamplingtheorem,thesamplingfrequencymustbemorethantwicethemaximumfrequencyoftheoriginalsignal,sothesesamplingrecordeddatamaybeashighasthenumberofmegabytespersecondlevel.Suchhigh-precisionsamplingrequirementwillcreateahugeamountofdata.And,it’sdifficulttostoreandtransmitsuchahugeamountofrecordeddata.Therefore,toavoidlosingimportantinformationandreducetheamountofdata,itisnecessarytocarryoutthepowerqualitydatacompression.Currentpowerqualitydatacompressionmethodstartswithcontinuouspowerdataacquisitionataveryhighsamplingrate,andthenabandonsmostoftheredundantdatabyhigh-performancecompressionmeans,whichwillresultinacquisitionequipmentlargesamplingpressureandcausegreatwasteofstorageresources.Ifthesamplingandcompressionprocesscanbeintegrated,itwillbeaneffectivesolutiontosolvetheproblemofmassivepowerqualitymonitoringdata,andeasetheburdenondatastorageandtransmissiontoagreatextent.In2006,compressivesensingtheoryhasbroughtabigbreakthroughforsignalprocessingandanalysisfield.Thetheoryisabletosolvethedrawbacksofthepowerdataacquisition.Itcancombinedatasamplinganddatacompressiontogether.AtfirstthispaperstudiesthemethodofdatacompressionusingtheconventionalFouriertransformandwavelettransform,andthenthecompressivesensingtheoryisintroducedtothepowerqualitydatacompression.Comparedtowavelettransform,compressedsensingcompress
