AbstractNanoquasicrystallineparticlereinforcedAl-Fe-Cr-Tielevatedtemperaturealloydrawgreatinterestinaerospaceandaviationindustryduetoitsoutstandingproperties,suchas,lowdensity,highstrengthandhightemperatureresistenceupto350℃.Recently,researchersallovertheworldpaidlotsofattentiontoitsproductionprocessesandmicrostructuralcharacterations.However,thethermalstabilityandstrengtheningmechanismofAl93Fe3Cr2Ti2alloyremainunclear.ThisworkisaimtoobtainAl93Fe3Cr2Ti2bulkalloysbyusingrapidsolidification(RS)andpowdermetallury(PM)technique,investigatethephasetransformationoficosahedralquasicrystallinephases(i-phases)afterheattreatmentbyusingSEM,XRDandTEMtechniques,studythefluenceofsizeanddistributionofdispersedsecondphasesonmechanicalproperties,atlastoptimizedensificationparameters.Asthecoolingratesdecreased,i-phaseswereformedthroughAl93Fe3Cr2Ti2moltendropletsatfirst,followedbyAl3Tiphases,thenAl13Fe4andAl13Cr2intermetallics,andi-phasedisappearedatlast.Gasatomizationchangedfromnonequilibriumprocesstoequilibriumprocess.Nanoquasicrystallinesecondphasesandamorphousmatrixwereobservedinas-atomizedpowders.Inthepresentwork,theanglesbetweenrotationalsymmetryaxisofi-phase,i.e.,i2,i5,i2,i3,i3,i5,weredeterminedto31.2°,23.4°,39.4°,repectively,byusingtheseriestiltingtechnique.InrapidsolidifiedAl-Fe-Cr-Tisystem,icosahedraltwinswereobservedforthefirsttime.Afterheattreatedat450℃,i-phasesstartedtogrowup,Al13Fe4andAl13Cr2phaseswithstackingfaultsandtwinswereprecipitatedinthegrainboundary.I-phasestransformedafterheatedat500℃:i-phase→α-Al+Al3Ti,whichtwophasessharecoherentorientationrelationshipas:α-Al[-112]∥L12-Al3Ti[-111],α-Al[10-1]∥D022-Al3Ti[10-1].FinegraindAl93Fe3Cr2Ti2alloyswerepreparedbygasatomization,cannedvaccumdegassing,cold/hotisostaticpressing,andextrusion/multi-steprolling.Themicrostructurewascharacterizedwithfinealuminumgrainandsecondphasesfromnano-scaletomicro-scale.As-extrudedbulkalloyinheritedpartsofrapidsolidifiedmicrostructuralfeatures,bandedstructurewithi-phaseandintermetallicsasprecip
