ABSTRACTObjective：To compare the treatment effect on internal and external ankle fractures of absorbable nail plate and fixed metal materials, providing the evidence of surgical internal fixation materials selection for the internal and external ankle fractures patients.Methods：Complete dates of 71 cases of internal and external ankle fractures patients in the same treatment group from January 2013 to Dcember 2014 in our hospital were divided into two groups, metal material(Metal materials internal fixation, MIF) group and absorbable nail plate(Absorbable nail plate, ANP) group. Including 36 cases of metal group, of which the material was selected external ankle locking anatomic plate, few patients less robust internal fixation were treated with plaster external fixation for six weeks after MIF. 35 cases of absorbable nail plate group, of which the material was selected absorbable nail plate system, the patients were treated with plaster external fixation conventional for six weeks after ANP. Within the 71 cases of internal and external ankle fractures, 33 cases of male and 38 cases of female, 36 cases of left ankle and 35 cases of right ankle, aged twenty to sixty years old, average 39.20 years old. Weber points A, B, C type fractures of 25, 29 and 17 cases respectively. Score comparisons were treated between two groups of cases of postoperative 1,2,3,6 and 12 months callus diameter and X-ray grayscale values, and 2, 3, 6 and 12 months after ankle operation.Results：Each of MIF and ANP groups have a case of mild traumatic arthritis, metallic materials have a case of a fracture patient with delayed union. All cases didn’t present infection, breakage of internal fixation loosening and bbone nonunion and other complications. The difference was not statistically significant for the cases in the two groups in age, callus diameter 12 months, 12 months callus X-ray grayscale values, ankle score 3 months, 6 months the ankle score, and ankle scores for 12 months.There was s
