教学设计 Book3 Unit 1 Festivals around the world 教学内容:人教版《英语》必修Knowledge aims Learn about what festival is and know about various festivals around the world; 2. Describe the festivals by using the key words and phrases in the reading(eg, celebrate, take place, look forward to and so on ;) Ability aims Learn to predict the possible contents of a text through the title and the pictures. Learn to sum up the main idea of a paragraph by reading the topic sentences as well as key words or phrases. Learn to scan for key information by spotting the verbal phrases. Emotional aims To Learn about the festivals around the world and be proud of our customs and respect other festivals in other countries etc. To enhance students’ awareness of cooperation Important and difficult points: To understand what a band is. To sum up the differences and similarities between an ordinary band and the Monkees. Teaching approach:Text-based approach Teaching aids:ppt slides Teaching procedures Time Steps Teacher and student interaction Purpose 7 Mins Warming-up pre-reading T: Introduce the topic of “fetivals ” directly by explaining “Festivals are meant to celebrate the important times of year. Do you know any festivals at home and abroad? Can you name some famous festivals? Then guide the students to say some festivals in China and other countries. (The Spring Festival, Dragon Boat festival, Mid-autunm festival, Christmas day, Easter, Halloween, etc) Ask students to answer “What is the most famous festival for Li and Miao people in Hainan province?” “When does it take place?””What people usually do?”. (Sanyuesan Festival ect.) Tell the students that today they are going to learn about a band that was of the same time with the Beatles but was once more popular than the Beatles. (play a short video of the Monkees performing.)Ask the student how they liked the Monkee’s song or their style of performance and if they would like to find out why the Monkees were so popular.
